چکیده

This paper describes DIMPLE, a software application for haptic force-feedback controllers which allows easy creation of interactive rigid-body simulations. DIMPLE makes extensive use of an established standard for control-rate transmission of audio control commands, which can be used to drive many simultaneous parameters of a given audio/visual synthesis engine. Because it is used with a high-level, visual multimedia programming language, DIMPLE allows fast and uncomplicated development of responsive, haptically-enabled virtual environments useful for fast prototyping of applications in fields where lower level programming skills may not be widespread. Examples of specific scenes constructed using DIMPLE are given, with applications to perception, HCI research, music, and multimedia. A pilot evaluation study was performed comparing DIMPLE to another implementation of a specific scene, which showed comparable results between subjects’ overall impressions of the

Mass Properties Identification of a Rigid Body Using Modal Analysis

In performing vibration analysis of the car engine on the engine support, it is necessary to know the mass properties of the engine including mass, position of the center of mass and mass inertia moments. Because the car engine has a relatively complex geometric shape and is composed of different components with different densities, determining its mass properties faces many challenges. There a...

Multi-Body Simulation in Virtual Environments

This paper describes a simulator which uses a unique hybrid particle system and dynamic constraint based model to compute the behaviour of interacting multi-body systems in a virtual environment. Simulations can be innuenced by the user at run-time, so there are important interaction issues addressed. The need for such systems in virtual reality applications ranging from tissue modelling in sur...

Effects of track characteristics on dynamic responses of train-bridge systems

High speed trains are an indispensable part of rapid transportation systems in many countries. As the fastest means of transport on the ground, these trains are extremely sensitive to the terrain and track conditions. Geometrical irregularities and mechanical characteristics of the track, together with inconsistencies in the lane (including bridges that support the track) are considered importa...

Dynamical Behavior of a Rigid Body with One Fixed Point (Gyroscope). Basic Concepts and Results. Open Problems: a Review

The study of the dynamic behavior of a rigid body with one fixed point (gyroscope) has a long history. A number of famous mathematicians and mechanical engineers have devoted enormous time and effort to clarify the role of dynamic effects on its movement (behavior) – stable, periodic, quasi-periodic or chaotic. The main objectives of this review are: 1) to outline the characteristic features of...

Modeling and Simulation Research on Dynamics of Missiles with Deflectable Nose Control

The dynamic characteristics of deflectable nose missiles with rotary single-channel control were investigated in this paper. Firstly, the effective angle of attack, effective angle of sideslip and quasi-body coordinates were introduced based on the spin characteristics of the missile’s body. Secondly, considering the interaction between the missile’s nose and body, the rigid kinetic model of mi...
